Does PingMarket sell equipment?
For now, PingMarket is an independent catalogue: we help you choose with spec sheets, reviews and comparisons. Direct sales and price comparison across shops are on our roadmap.
How do I choose my first racket?
If you're starting out, prioritise control over speed. A pre-assembled training racket or a simple allround setup is ideal. Use the comparison tool and the reviews to decide with confidence.
What's the difference between a pre-assembled and a custom racket?
A pre-assembled racket comes with rubbers already glued on and is ready to play. A custom one is built by choosing the blade and each rubber separately, giving you far more room to tune the gear to your game.
Are the reviews independent?
Yes. Our recommendations are based on merit and research, not on who pays the most. Whenever partnerships or affiliate links exist, they are always clearly identified.
What do the speed, spin and control numbers mean?
They are ratings the manufacturers give their gear. Speed is the power returned, spin is the ability to impart rotation, and control is how much margin for error the gear forgives. They work for relative comparison, not as an exact measure across different brands.
How often should I change my rubbers?
It depends on how often you play, but a regular player usually changes every 3 to 6 months. Signs of wear include loss of grip, a shiny surface and edges peeling off.
Which balls should I use?
For competition, use 3-star balls in 40+ ABS plastic. For intensive training or robots, training balls (1 star) in a large pack are cheaper and do the job well.
Can I use any glue to attach the rubbers?
No. Always use water-based glue made specifically for table tennis. Household glues can damage the sponge and are illegal in competition.
